Beautiful Pakistan

In July of 2013, I flew from Florida to Lahore, Pakistan to get married there to the most wonderful man I have ever met. We are still happily married. These are some photographs that I took during that trip. Most of the photographs were taken in Lahore and also quite a few from a small village named Prince which is close to Lahore. The warm welcome we got in the village was heart warming and the children followed us where ever we went and were eager to let me take pictures of them.

Some of the places we went to in Lahore are the amazingly beautiful Badshahi Mosque, the Lahore Fort, Shalimar Gardens, the Qaid E Azam Library and the Lahore Historical Museum.

I enjoyed every moment while I was there and found the Pakistani people to be warm and friendly.

Mandala on Canvas

For this piece, I used Liquitex Acrylic Paint on a 12 x 12 canvas for the background. Then I put a stencil on the canvas once the paint was dry, and used Gold Liquitex spray paint. After that dried, I used a tiny paintbrush and red Liquitex Ink to “color in” the Mandala. I had so much fun making it that I think I will do a series in several different color schemes.

“The Queen” mixed Media on 4 x 4 gesso board

I used Faber Castell and Micron Pens to complete the physical artwork. Then, I took a photograph of it with a Sony CyberShot and then digitally enhanced the image using Adobe Photoshop.

Use Adobe Creative Cloud to Edit Your Art Journal Pages

I always have so much fun creating an art page page, but sometimes that is just half the journey…. I take a picture of it and let the fun begin again.  Usining Adobe’s Lightroom CC and POhotoshop CC gives unlimited editing potential.  Here are just a few quick edits I did, using presets, to get a quick example together of how just a few minutes spent in editing can change the tone and feel of the jornal entry immensely…

Last Days Of Summer Art Journal Pages

That bittersweet, last day of summer before school starts up again, should be a special day filled with happiness and joy for each student returning to school. No more staying up all night giggling with your friends, having sleepovers, an occasional Netflix binge, playing video games or being online for countless hours at a time. All that disappears in the blink of an eye. Summer’s fly by and next thing we know academics take a priority again… I had my own special way of saying farewell to the summer and wrote about it last night and this morning in two consecutive art journal entries. As usual, my art journal pages are consisted of layers of mixed media and I feel good expressing myself while doing them, verbally in what I write and artistically with the colors, designs, stencils and materials I choose to use.

Here is a list of materials I used to make these entries:

  • Dylusions Large Art Journal
  • Faber Castell Pens
  • Micron Pens
  • Gellyroll Pens
  • Liquitex Acrylic Paint Markers
  • Block Stamps
  • Cling Stamps
  • Stencils
  • Watercolor Paint

I ❤ Fort Lauderdale

I never get tired of taking pictures of the beaches in Florida but Fort Lauderdale is especially close to my heart since this is my hometown.

Rocky Mountains

I took this picture when I went on a fabulous vacation to Colorado to visit an old childhood friend that I’ve known for well over 35 years. We hadn’t seen each other in 17 years to it was awesome to meet her husband and son, see her Mom and take a whirlwind tour through Colorado that my friend Lynn had planned, to insure that I saw as much of Colorado as possible during my short stay there  she was the best tour guide ever and I’ll never forget my time in Colorado

Here’s another shot I took back in 2013 at John Easterlin Park in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  Click on the link to learn more about the park or book a campsite. Definitely check it out next time you’re in the Fort Lauderdale area.  Maybe you’ll get lucky and see one of the gorgeous peacocks that the park is known for.  Easterlin Park
