I follow ALOT of YouTube channels that cater to my wide variety of interest but for abstract art demonstrations SurajFineArts is by far my favorite. Here’s a painting a did after watching one of his many inspiring videos. I highly recommend following him if your a YouTuber. Here’s a link to the video that inspired this painting I did and I’m also inserting a link to his channel. https://youtu.be/92RPGN-A4o

Journal Entry July 22, 2018

I used Gelatos and pens by Faber Castell for doing the background and coloring in some of the stencils. I love their products. Liquitex Acrylic paint and mediums, Micron Pens, Prismacolor colored pencils, Gellyroll pens, Faber Castell Gelatos and pens, Windsor &Newton and Jane Davenport Watercolors are must-haves in my art supplies. I also like Jim Holtz and Dylusions products.

Art Journal July 21, 2018

This entry is from July 21, 2018 I think. The day after I saw the orthopedic surgeon and learned that I HAVE to lose 40 pounds before they can operate and give me 2 new hips. Time for some major lifestyle changes!!! I’ve been exercising on my recumbent bicycle every morning as soon as I wake up and have found that it’s already helping with my stiffness and pain. Soon, I’ll add swimming into the mix. I ordered a cute bathing suit online.

I ❤ Fort Lauderdale

I never get tired of taking pictures of the beaches in Florida but Fort Lauderdale is especially close to my heart since this is my hometown.

Rocky Mountains

I took this picture when I went on a fabulous vacation to Colorado to visit an old childhood friend that I’ve known for well over 35 years. We hadn’t seen each other in 17 years to it was awesome to meet her husband and son, see her Mom and take a whirlwind tour through Colorado that my friend Lynn had planned, to insure that I saw as much of Colorado as possible during my short stay there  she was the best tour guide ever and I’ll never forget my time in Colorado

Zentangle

I saw a Zentangle book in Barnes and Nobles about 2 years ago and picked it up out of curiosity. It appealed to me so I bought it and now have quite a collection on Zentangle books. There is something about completing the repetitive patterns and pen strokes that absorbs the mind and eases anxiety or worry. Instagram is a great place to see Zentangle art from others around the world.

Mandala

For this Mandala I used a variety of mediums and products such as Micron pens, a compass, Faber Castell pens, Gellyroll pens, watercolor and Gelatos also by Faber Castell. Since it is so detailed with Zentangle patterns, this Mandala took me about 18 hours to complete. It is on mixed media paper and currently unframed. JRiaz

“Shimmering Sun”

This abstract acrylic on canvas was so fun to create.  As usual, I used Liquitex Heavy Gel and Heavy Body paints which allowed me to create such thick, heavy texture.  I used a variety of different sized brushes and pallet knives to apply the mediums. I painted this in late 2017.

“Peek-a-Boo”

Here’s another shot I took back in 2013 at John Easterlin Park in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  Click on the link to learn more about the park or book a campsite. Definitely check it out next time you’re in the Fort Lauderdale area.  Maybe you’ll get lucky and see one of the gorgeous peacocks that the park is known for.  Easterlin Park
